About Me

Profile pic of meI have always wondered what "my thing" is. What my one talent is that I'm great at. Well I still haven't found it yet but I am starting to realize that I can be good at many things which is sometimes better than being great at just one thing. By doing and enjoying many different activities in life, not only do you get to have experience in many areas but you also never stay bored. If you are working on one project and get stuck, you move on to the next activity until you find your next creative spark. The downside to that is, with 3 projects (jewelry, blog, and a website) I can never invest more than 30% of my time off to any one project. I am trying to focus on my website and jewelry equally and throw in some blog posts here and there. Anyway, this site will always be a work in progress as I am going to try to always keep it updated with new pictures of my jewelry and places I go.

I have recently found a few activities of my own that I enjoy. One is blogging. I was never in to the blog thing, never really understood it. One day instead of just laying around watching TV I decided to start a blog to see what it was like. I posted about new recipes I tried and liked. I posted about places I had been. Now I am posting about jewelry making.

me in FranceFor a while now, I have been wanting something handmade and unique to wear. I almost got that in St Augustine. Long story short, I showed up late and the lady who was making my anklet went home for the night. So after we came back home I started thinking about making my own anklet. There were a few knots I had learned to make in school that I could use for my anklet so I went to Walmart and bought the supplies I needed. After I was done I thought about how much I had enjoyed making it so I went back to Walmart. I found an awesome jewelry kit that came with enough hemp cord and beads to make a necklace and bracelet. When I first opened it I was a bit overwhelmed. I needed to know how to do different knots, so I went on YouTube for step by step instructions. Once I conquered the hemp jewelry I tried beading necklaces which is where I am now.

I never used to think I was a creative person but now I have so many ideas flying through my head about colors and bead patterns, sometimes it keeps me up at night. I brought my jewelry I had made to Old Town to show everyone I know and, to my surprise, people loved them. I started making custom jewelry for a few people now I'm going to try my luck online. I have started an Etsy store and, obviously a website. With this website I hope to have a place to send family, friends, and "other people?" when they want to see what I have been up to recently. A place to send people to see all of my awesome pictures.

When I first started, it was just going to be for friends and family. It was going to be my hobby, something to do every now and then. Now that people are interested, I can get some support for my hobby. Everything I have made from my jewelry has gone right back into buying more supplies. I'm not expecting this to replace my day job but as of right now I am just making some money on the side doing what I enjoy.
