Silver SpringsDennis and I went to Silver Springs on February 11, 2010. This is one of the very few places in Florida he had never been and wanted to go, so I decided to take him one day. It was during the time we had the freakish cold temperatures here in FL so it was very cold that day and hardly anyone was there. It is hard to explain exactly what Silver Springs is. It had a few shops, a few animal shows, a petting farm, a “safari” ride, and a glass bottom boat ride. The boat ride was very cool, it was crystal clear water and with the glass bottom, you could see everything under you which was very awesome. The safari wasn’t as bad as it could have been, it was a very bumpy ride but they took you around to see some animals where an ostrich come right up to the cart and start picking rocks from the tire. At one point in the park, there is a place you can actually feed gators which is interesting. They also had a cool garden path you can walk through with shrub statues of animals but since it was so cold, a lot of the plant life was dead but I’m sure when it’s warm, it’s beautiful out there. |
