Alexander Springs is a great park but not only because it was my first time canoeing but because the hiking trail was so different than the others we have been on. We started the day by getting here early and renting a canoe for $16 for 2 hours which was plenty for us. I had never been in a canoe before and I had so much fun. While on the canoe we saw a lot of turtles, some birds and a huge alligator. Afterwards my arms were killing me but it was a good hurt. We noticed a hiking trail on our way down with the canoe so after we returned the canoe, we headed for the trail. It was only 1.1 miles but it felt a lot longer. A lot of this trail was a boardwalk but sometimes it cut off and we were walking on dirt. The trees were tall and very close so it didn’t feel like a normal trail where everything is marked and wide open. This one made you feel like you were lost, you had to climb over rocks and hop over flooded areas like you are a stunt person. I had a lot of fun at this park and would recommend it to anyone even though the price is $5.50 a person.
