Split Oak Forest in St Cloud is the one park we have been to about 3 times now. On our first trip out there, within the first 5 minutes of walking, we saw a deer in the trail. Then we saw some armadillo and more deer hidden in the bushes throughout the hike. Seeing wild animals is the reason I hike, yes I love the fresh air and getting out of the house but man I feel so great seeing animals in their natural habitat. Split Oak has 9 miles of trail you can walk, we have only walked about 5 miles, about half way they have a split oak tree that continues to grow which is where they got the name form. They also have a boardwalk that takes you to a platform with benches where you can rest and have a snack while looking over the lake. We loved it so much that we invited my family out once (which was interesting) and then invited Dennis’s friend out with us. Everyone had a great time and there is no entrance fee which is even better. |
